Ethiopian Airlines to add three extra flights to Abuja from October 28

Africa’s most profitable airline, Ethiopian Airlines, is expanding its route network in Africa and has chosen to add three extra weekly flights to the daily flights already operating out of Abuja.

Its decision to foray into routes with some of the best equipment has set it apart, as it matches competition with capacity and ambition to retain its spot as one of the best airlines in the world, with Nigeria serving as its preferred market because of the huge yield from the country.

The carrier said Meetings Incentives Conferences and Events/Exhibitions MICE is one of the biggest tourism businesses all over the world, and Abuja, the Nigerian capital, is beginning to become an important destination for international conferences and meetings.

It noted that recently, the Nigerian government reopened the Abuja International Conference Centre to join other facilities offered by hotels in Abuja.

To support this growing trend, Africa’s biggest airline disclosed that it would be adding extra flights to Abuja from October 28th, 2025.

There will be three extra weekly flights added to the daily flights already operating out of Abuja. The extra flights will be in the evening, while the daily flight stays at midday.

Passengers from Abuja will have increased options. The extra flights will offer immediate connections to many African and Asian destinations that reduce the total hours of flight time for passengers.

The extra flights from Abuja do not just offer more flights; they come with extra benefits. More baggage allowance, “You can also get double double miles if you fly with us,” says the area manager of Ethiopian Airlines, Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen. The extra baggage allowance is for passengers going to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras and Dubai.

Ethiopian Airlines Area Manager, Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, said there will be three evening flights at 10 pm, adding that the daily midday flight will not change.

“Only the additional flights will have different times. Evening departure 10 pm from Abuja ET 957 and arrival in Addis at 5 am will connect all African destinations, DXB, GRU, TLV and some other destinations.”

“We are offering these extra benefits to reward our loyal passengers as we offer more flights and options out of Abuja. These extra flights help us improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers. Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster.”

Ethiopian has been flying to Nigeria since 1960 and has served the market with the newest aircraft in the world, including the A350-1000 and the B787 Dreamliner. It connects Abuja, Lagos, Enugu and Kano to over 150 global destinations.
